It was during her studies in Cultural Anthropology at UCLA that Heather Wong discovered her passion for baking. She left her long time job in property management to refine her craft and become a baker at Studio City's Big Sugar Bake Shop. In 2011, Heather joined Los Angeles' highly regarded pastry team at Bottega Louie working under the direction of Chefs Alan Ramos and Carolyn Nugent. With this team of young, highly talented chefs, Heather learned the importance of technique, consistency, and quality ingredients.
Eager to share her own creations, Heather launched the online dessert delivery service, The Scootabaker. The idea grew from her love of classic Italian scooters, and the name she owed to her husband's wit.
Her work has been featured in print and web publications such as Utterly Engaged Magazine, Green Wedding Shoes, Wedding Chicks, 100 Layer Cake, Scoot! Magazine, and her collaborative series of cookbooks with BOSCH Hong Kong is now in circulation in the Asian market.
Today, you can find Heather and The Scootabaker's desserts, at Toluca Lake's SweetSalt Food Shop. Chef Alex Eusebio of Top Chef invited Heather onboard to develop the pastry and dessert menu for his restaurant. Now fans of The Scootabaker have a place to sit and enjoy her desserts!
