Heather Wong, eager to share her passion for pastries and desserts, launched the online delivery service The Scootabaker in 2009. The idea grew from her love of classic Italian scooters, and the name she owed to her husband's wit.
Her work has been featured in publications like Martha Stewart Weddings and Scoot! Magazine. She also collaborates with BOSCH Hong Kong on cookbooks now sold across Asia.
Heather is also the Pastry Chef at Sweetsalt Food Shop and Cascabel in Toluca Lake.

Yes! The Scootabaker specializes in offering a variety of gluten-free cakes and desserts that accommodate allergies whether it's vegetarian, vegan, raw or halal without sacrificing great taste, and quality. We have popular gluten-free cakes, such as Chocolate Fudge Cake, Red Velvet Cake, Vanilla Bean Cake. All made with premium certified gluten-free ingredients. We also offer vegan, dairy-free, as well as nut-free alternatives if you need it. Just let us know in advance of your dietary requirements when you order so we can fulfill your specification.
To guarantee your cake and to ensure it is fresh, we request the following lead time:
- Custom Cakes: 48 hours notice.
- Standard Cakes and Dessert: 24 hours notice.
- If you're after more than one cake or need specialized designs, we advise that you order 1 week in advance to allow us to prepare your order.
Currently, The Scootabaker delivers within a 25 mile radius from Toluca Lake. Areas covered are Burbank, Pasadena, Glendale, and Hollywood. For large orders or special events outside of this radius please contact us directly to discuss your specific needs. Whenever possible we will always delivery to accommodate our customers.
Yes! Heather is a talented baker and can certainly create custom cake designs for any occasion whether it be a wedding, birthday, anniversary, or corporate event. If you have a theme or certain colors or designs you want for your cake we will work together with you to ensure your cake design is brought to life. Delivery fees depend on your distance from the Scootabaker in Toluca Lake and the size of the order:
- Within 10 miles: Orders placed over $75 qualify for free delivery.
- Greater than 10 miles: Delivery fees are $40 flat rate and can increase depending on distance from bakery as well as size and complexity of your order.
- Please provide your delivery address with your order for a correct delivery fee estimate.
